I was exploring the garden and grounds of the old hacienda we had booked outside Quanajuato, when I came upon the bedroom door of our hostess. It was slightly ajar, and I could see she was busy elsewhere, so I took the opportunity to peek inside. The backwall, a masonry slump of large pregnant stones was bathed in the light of a skylight overhead. A darkened lamp sat on the bedstand. I lit the lamp, adjusted the doors, and responding to the inviting call of the light, used my 4x5 for an exposure.
